Smith tapped to head up SAMC’s Women and Infants Services

Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to announce Tammy Smith, RN, MSN, has been named executive director of Women and Infants Services.

Tammy has 20 years of clinical experience and 13 years in nursing leadership.

Tammy joined the SAMC team in 2004 as director of the Family Birth Center. She was named division director of Women’s Services in 2013. During her time as division director, Tammy developed a strategic plan for the growth of the Women’s service line at SAMC to include the region’s first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Tammy is a 2014 graduate of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Dothan. She was recognized by the Alabama Department of Public Health Office for her work improving Women’s Health in the state. She has served on various taskforce groups with the Alabama Hospital Association, which includes developing the Neonatal Levels of Care for Perinatal Regionalization in Alabama.

Tammy received her Associate Degree of Applied Science Nursing from Calhoun Community College in 1996. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration in 2005 from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama. She earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Spring Hill College, Mobile, Alabama.

A native of north Alabama, Tammy has a daughter, Caroline.
