Southeast Health achieves “A’s” for patient outcomes and patient safety

Southeast Health recently earned “A” grades from the 2026-27 Lown Institute Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility, demonstrating excellence in patient outcomes and patient safety. Lown is a nationally recognized healthcare think tank.

Southeast Health Medical Center also received the following additional accolades on the Lown Index:

  • Top 5 in the state for patient outcomes and patient safety
  • ‘A’ grades in pay equity, inclusivity and patient satisfaction

The Lown Hospitals Index is the only national ranking that examines how equitably care is delivered, how well hospitals invest in their communities, and whether patients receive high-value care that avoids unnecessary procedures, in addition to clinical measures. More than 50 metrics contribute to a hospital’s overall score.

“We are on a continuous journey to improve quality, safety, and patient satisfaction while striving for excellence in all we do. This recognition affirms that we are moving forward with purpose as we strive to become one of the nation’s leading health systems,” said Rick Sutton, CEO. “I am incredibly proud of the Southeast Health team, whose engagement and dedication are making Southeast, Southbest for our community and every patient we serve.”

“The best hospitals aren’t just clinically excellent, they’re deeply committed to the communities they serve and work hard to ensure all patients get the care they need,” said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. “High performance on the Lown Index shows that hospitals are doing more of what matters to patients and communities.”
