Dr. Mayes joins Southeast Health Medical Group

Southeast Health is pleased to announce Charles Eugene Mayes Jr., MD, interventional cardiologist, will join the Southeast Health Medical Group in July.

Dr. Mayes comes to Southeast Health Medical Center after almost 10 years at Ascension Sacred Heart Medical Group in Miramar Beach, Florida. While there, he was director of the Cardiovascular service line at Sacred Heart Hospital on Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach. In addition, he served as the cardiovascular medical director for the Midwest market covering Port St. Joe to Pensacola, Florida.

Dr. Mayes received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with honors from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee. He did his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas at Southwest Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He completed a fellowship in general and interventional cardiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Mayes was a member of the Vanderbilt University Commodores men’s varsity basketball team from 1987 to 1991. He was part of three NCAA tournament teams, and he was team captain during his senior year.

Dr. Mayes will be a welcome addition to Southeast Health Medical Group, and we look forward to the knowledge and expertise he will bring to the organization.
