Kauhola named director of Neurocritical Care

Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to announce Kawehi Kauhola, MSN, RN has been named director of Neurocritical Care.

Kawehi comes to Dothan with almost 20 years of experience in Neuroscience Intensive Care at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She began her career at Queen’s Medical Center in1997 and she continued to grow through the organization. Her most recent position was nurse manager of Neuroscience Inpatient Units. She also served as nurse manager of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, clinical operations manager of the Neuroscience ICU and Surgical ICU and charge RN/Staff RN of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit.

Kawehi received her Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Education and her Master’s degree in Nursing all from the University of Hawaii in Manoa.

Kawehi, having lived her entire life in Hawaii, was impressed by SAMC’s commitment to excellence to patients and the community. She took a leap of faith, with her husband Kala, and moved to Dothan to join the SE Health team. They have four children; a son who lives in San Antonio, Texas and three daughters who reside in Hawaii. She also has three grandchildren. Kawehi and her children are avid Crossfitters while her husband cooks Paleo meals for the family.
