When needed, providers can discuss treatment plans or request a second opinion by consulting directly with Mayo Clinic specialists—at no additional cost to the patient. By combining their knowledge of each patient’s unique medical needs with Mayo Clinic’s expertise, providers can develop the best possible treatment plan.

Members of the Mayo Clinic Care Network are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to the highest quality, patient-centered care. Each member organization completes Mayo Clinic’s comprehensive evaluation process, which includes an in-depth review of clinical and business practices, as well as quality, safety, and service performance

If patients have concerns about their condition and would like a second opinion, they should talk with their Southeast Health provider about requesting an eConsult with Mayo Clinic. This process is easy, does not require travel, and comes at no additional cost. The provider and patient can then discuss the recommended treatment plan together.

When a Southeast Health physician needs clinical advice or has questions about complex care, they can quickly and securely consult electronically with Mayo Clinic specialists.

No. These services involve collaboration between Southeast Health providers and Mayo Clinic specialists. Mayo Clinic physicians do not see or contact patients directly. If your provider requests an eConsult on your behalf, the consultation will be documented in your secure medical record.

Providers at care network organizations have access to Mayo Clinic’s research, diagnostic and treatment resources so they can provide more patient care locally, reducing the patient’s need to travel outside the region for care. There is no obligation for providers to refer patients to Mayo Clinic.
