Segrest named director of orthopedic floor

Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to announce Brooke Segrest, RN, MSN, has been named director of 2 East Nursing Unit. This unit is designated for orthopedic patients.

Brooke has been part of the SAMC team for 12 years. During her tenure she has served as clinical nurse specialist, clinical coordinator, and charge nurse of the 7 East Nursing Unit.  Brooke has also served as interim director of 7 East and she has more than nine years of supervisory experience in the medical-surgical environment at SAMC.

Brooke received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Troy University and her Master’s in nursing from the University of South Alabama. She is licensed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist by the Alabama Board of Nursing. “She has demonstrated excellent leadership skills and will be an asset to the Nursing Management Team,” said Diane Buntyn, Chief Nursing Officer at SAMC.

Her certifications include Certified Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Cardiac-Vascular Nurse Certification. Brooke has also served as a Clinical Nursing Instructor for the past 10 years with Troy University and Wallace Community College.

Brooke enjoys spending time with her family, trips to the beach, fishing, and watching football with friends. A Slocomb native, she and her husband have two children.
