Southeast Health named Alabama’s only five-star hospital by Forbes

Southeast Health Medical Center is proud to announce it has been designated as Alabama’s only five-star rated hospital in Forbes inaugural ranking of U.S. general acute care hospitals.

The Medical Center is one of 253 hospitals nationwide to earn the five-star distinction in “Forbes Top Hospitals 2026” released earlier this month. Forbes assigned a star rating, from one to five, across four categories to calculate a hospital’s overall rating. The evaluation included 5,400 acute care hospitals, of which 2,500 met the inclusion criteria. Ratings were based on publicly reported measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, covering outcomes, best
practices, value, and patient experience.

“This is a tremendous achievement and further validates our ongoing commitment to provide this region with high quality healthcare,” said Rick Sutton, CEO of Southeast Health. “This prestigious Forbes rating is the result of dedicated employees, physicians and volunteers who
continue to work toward making the Medical Center a top 100 hospital in the nation.”

This marks the second time this year Southeast Health has earned recognition from Forbes. Earlier this year, the health system was named a Forbes Best-in-State Employer for the fourth year in a row. Awards like these, along with other recognitions from independent sources in
recent years, have solidified Southeast Health’s reputation for excellence in patient care and for educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.
