Southeast Health Pathology earns ACHC accreditation

Southeast Health is pleased to announce the Medical Center’s Pathology department has been re-accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).

The Pathology department received continued ACHC accreditation for demonstrating compliance with rigorous national standards. This accreditation reflects Southeast Health’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

“This accreditation shows the high standard of patient care we hold ourselves to in Pathology and in all the laboratory services we provide,” said Tamara Myers, director of Laboratory Medicine. “It also reflects the talented Pathology team dedicated to continue making sure our patients receive quality and accurate testing.”

Pathology is the part of the Medical Center’s comprehensive Laboratory Medicine department that provides diagnostic examination of organs, tissues, and biopsies by a variety of macroscopic, microscopic and biochemical means. In addition to ACHC, the Laboratory Medicine department is accredited by the Clinical Office Laboratory Association (COLA) and licensed by the CLIA, which is a federal regulation required by all laboratories to ensure accuracy, reliability and timeliness of patient test results. The lab is also state licensed by Alabama and Florida.

ACHC is a nonprofit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. ACHC is ISO 9001:2015 certified and has Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) deeming authority for clinical laboratory, as well as other services and healthcare facilities.

Southeast Health is also ISO 9001 Quality Management System certified by DNV for meeting standards that result in continued safe and quality care to our patients.

This accreditation is another example of how our team is making Southeast, Southbest for those we serve.
