Thomas Shaknovsky, DO

 

Dr. Shaknovsky is originally from Belarus and grew up in Chicago, IL. He visited Dothan and immediately fell in love with the area and the kind hearted people. He decided to relocate to Dothan to start his medical practice in 2016.

He received his medical degree from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, IL. He completed his General Surgery residency at Palisades Medical Center in Jersey City, NJ and a Burn Surgery Fellowship at John H. Stroger Hospital Cook County, Chicago, IL. Dr. Shaknovsky has a passion for minimally invasive surgery and completed a Minimally Invasive/Robotic Surgery Fellowship at Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island, NY.

Dr. Shaknovsky has extensive experience and training in robotic single incision cholecystectomy, robotic abdominal wall hernias and robotic colon surgery. He also has extensive training in wound care and sees patients at SAMC’s Southeast Wound Care.

Dr. Shaknovsky began his military service in 2002 and serves in the Army Reserve as a Field Surgeon. He is married with two children and when not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and fishing.
