More about our Teenage Volunteer (TAV) Program

The Teenage Volunteer Program offers high school students a meaningful opportunity to explore healthcare careers while giving back to their community. Designed for students in grades 10 through 12, the TAV program provides hands-on exposure to healthcare career while developing skills that last a lifetime.

Participating in the TAV program offers numerous personal, academic, and career benefits, including:

From delivering comfort on the Hospitality Cart to sharing uplifting music, bringing joy with the Art Cart, and even participating in shuttling patients in on our Courtesy Cart, we have a star role for everyone eager to contribute. Whatever your passion or schedule, we have a spot where your energy and skills can make a maximum impact.

You’ll be providing a friendly service driving patients to and from parking areas, ensuring their visit is safe, quick, and comfortable.

Boost patient spirits with the hospitality or art cart providing them with toiletries, treats, and
fun art projects right to the bedside.

Volunteers

Play an instrument? Music offers deep comfort and healing to patients acting as stress reducing break for staff, visitors, and families.

Paw
Therapy

Have a Therapy Dog? This is an opportunity to bring comfort, joy, and a powerful sense of calm to patients and staff across the hospital.

How to Get Started Volunteering

Complete a brief online application and we will schedule an interview to learn more about your interests. If volunteering feels like a good fit, you will complete the required screenings, including a background check, drug test, and TB skin test, along with orientation, and training.

Have Questions?

Volunteers are interviewed and carefully placed in a service where their interests, talents and schedules complement Southeast Health’s needs. We provide an orientation and training program.
