
Nallamothu named chief medical officer, vice president of Medical Affairs
Southeast Health is pleased to announce that Ravi Nallamothu, MD, SFHM, has been named chief medical officer and vice president of Medical Affairs.
In his new role, Dr. Nallamothu will provide clinical leadership across the organization, working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers and care teams to advance quality, patient safety, physician engagement and patient care initiatives. As vice president of Medical Affairs, he will serve as a key liaison between the medical staff and administration, helping align clinical excellence with the health system’s strategic goals.
Dr. Nallamothu joined Southeast Health in 2011 as a hospitalist and has since held numerous physician leadership positions. His previous roles include medical director of the Clinical Decision Unit, medical director of Hospital Medicine, chair of the Quality and Peer Review Committee, director of the Transitional Year Residency Program and, most recently, chief health information officer. He also serves on the board of directors for Statera Network, Southeast Health’s accountable care organization.
“During his 15 years with Southeast Health, Dr. Nallamothu has earned the respect of our physicians, providers and staff through his commitment to quality, patient safety and clinical excellence,” said Rick Sutton, chief executive officer of Southeast Health. “From his work as a hospitalist to his leadership roles across the organization, most recently as chief health information officer, he has consistently demonstrated a collaborative approach and a deep commitment to improving patient care. He is exceptionally well prepared to serve as our chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs.”
Board certified in internal medicine; Dr. Nallamothu earned his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in India and completed his residency training at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore. He is a fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine.
As chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs, Dr. Nallamothu will help advance Southeast Health’s mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care to the communities it serves.
