Johnson named interim director of Neuro Critical Care Unit

Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to announce Ramona Johnson, MSN, RN-BC, has been named interim director of the Neuro Critical Care Unit, in addition to her current duties as stroke coordinator.

Ramona has been part of the SAMC team for 22 years. She was named stroke coordinator in May and prior to that she served two and a half years as care coordinator for oncology services. Prior to becoming a care coordinator, Ramona spent 16 years in Training and Development as a nursing instructor/team leader. She began her career at SAMC as a medical-surgical nurse and excelled quickly to a charge nurse role on the unit.

Ramona received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Troy University in Troy and her Master’s in nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her certifications include: Board Certified Medical-Surgical nursing, Advance Cardiac life support, Pediatric Advance Life Support and Chemotherapy Biotherapy: Fundamentals of Administration.

Ramona lives in the Ashford area with her husband Jace and their three children Logan, Lauren, and Landon. Logan and Lauren attend Auburn University. Logan is pursuing a chemical engineer degree and Lauren is majoring in speech therapy. Landon is a freshman at Northside Methodist Academy. As a family, they enjoy watching Auburn football, Wiregrass Cardinals AAU baseball, and spending time at the beach.
