3D Mammography is

now available.

Technically, it's called tomosynthesis, but you can call it 3D mammography, a high-tech way to give your doctor an even better view of your whole breast, making it possible to catch problems even earlier — oftentimes before you notice any symptoms. And it's available at Southeast Health.

What does a breast lump feel like?

When should you get a mammogram? Right now. Our 3D mammograms can catch
lumps before you can feel them. But if you think you do feel a lump in your breast,
here are things to know:

Breast lumps can feel different. Is it painless, easy to move, smooth and
rounded? It could be a fibrodenoma—a benign tumor that doesn't increase
your risk of cancer.

Is it smooth and firm? It could be a breast cyst, which often doesn't
need treatment.

Is it painful and swollen, especially if the skin is red or you have a fever? It
could be a breast abscess (a collection of pus) or mastitis (inflamed beast tissue).

But just because a lump
doesn't feel dangerous, that
doesn't mean you shouldn't get
it checked out. Schedule your
3D mammogram today!
