SAMC welcomes Dr. Whitney to west Dothan clinic

Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to welcome Lt. Col (ret) Patrick Whitney, MD, MSPH, to its Westway Medical Office on U.S. 84 West at John D. Odom Road.

Dr. Whitney, who specializes in Occupational Medicine and Family Medicine, comes to Dothan following his retirement from the US Air Force where he served as Commander of the 7th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, Texas. His duties included serving as the base Public Health Emergency Officer and Chief of Aerospace Medicine, as well as Occupational and Environmental Medicine consultant.

Prior to his assignment at Dyess, Dr. Whitney was chief of Occupational Medicine at the Air Force Medical Services Agency in Fall Church, Virginia. Other assignments include chief of Occupational Medicine, Robins Air Force Base, Rome, Georgia; Occupational Medicine residency, University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida; Flight Surgeon/Primary Care Physician, Hurlburt Field, near Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and Flight Surgeon, Shaw Air Force Base, near Sumter, South Carolina.

Dr. Whitney received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Troy University in Troy in 1978. He completed his Doctor of Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia in 1983. He earned his Medical Degree from Ross University School of Medicine in the Dominica, West Indies in 1998. He received his Master of Science in Public Health from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida in 2010.

He and his wife, Bernice, enjoy outdoor sports, hiking and traveling.
