Valerie is from Dothan, Alabama. She is a graduate of Troy University in Troy, Alabama and also earned her Master of Science in Nursing and nurse practitioner certificate there. Her memberships include the Alabama State Nurses Association and American Nurse Association. She is Board Certified by American Nurses Credentialing Centers. She is a recipient of the Federal Nurses Leadership Award.

Valerie loves to read. She and her husband have three children.
