A Message from George Narby, MD, Chief Medical Officer

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Southeast Health’s medical staff page. The medical staff is a self-governing organization of physicians who provide outstanding care for our patients and are committed to each other, Southeast Health and our community.

During the past eleven years there has been tremendous growth and change within Southeast Health. No longer just a great community hospital, Southeast Health is now a system that includes a medical school (Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine), graduate medical education and the largest multispecialty medical group in the Wiregrass. By mentoring and teaching medical students and residents our medical staff made up of independent, employed and contracted physicians has been instrumental in making this transformation possible. Southeast Health is now able to recruit new physicians as early in their careers as the first year of medical school.

The medical staff consists of more than 225 active members and just over 400 total members either board certified or board prepared in specialties representing virtually every area of medicine. Physicians are actively involved in Southeast Health decisions and processes, especially in the areas of patient safety and quality improvement. Physicians on the Medical Staff Quality Improvement Committee (MSQIC) have been instrumental in creating highly reliable processes of care in areas such as Congestive Heart Failure, Sepsis and Coronary Artery Bypass Graphs with many others to follow.

Physician participation in the many committees of the medical staff – Medical Staff Executive Committee, Quality Peer Review Committee, Credentials Committee, MSQIC, Department Committees, etc. – ensures that Southeast Health continues to progress and improve in the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate care to the patients who choose us for their health care needs.

If you are a physician looking for a new opportunity, I hope you will consider Southeast Health. We strive to be physician friendly, and our entire team works hard to make Southeast Health a great place to practice.

If you are interested in finding out more about joining our medical staff please contact the medical staff office at 334-793-8705.
