Chick-fil-A to open at SAMC in June

Chick-fil-A is being admitted to Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) on Tuesday, June 19.

The popular chicken restaurant will be located on campus serving a limited menu at breakfast and lunch. Chick-fil-A will be open weekdays from 7 to 9 a.m. serving chicken biscuits and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering chicken sandwiches, waffle fry chips, fresh fruit, cookies, sweet tea and salads. The menu will include healthy choices for customers looking for lighter fare. Additional menu items, such as chicken nuggets, will be added in the future.

Initially, food for the SAMC location will be prepared and served by Wiregrass Commons Mall Chick-fil-A location operated by David Bailey. In September when the new restaurant opens on East Main Street across from SAMC, the food will begin to be provided by that location. David Bailey has been named the operator of the new location when it opens this fall.

“We are excited about the new partnership with Chick-fil-A. SAMC’s strategic priorities for fiscal year 2018 include improving the patient and family experience and becoming employer of choice for our region. This year we have worked at an accelerated pace on projects that will impact these areas.” said Merideth Holland, VP of Support Services. “Healthcare is becoming more consumer focused so we plan to continue to expand and enhance our food and dining options to provide the very best on campus experience.”

Earlier this year, SAMC hired an executive chef and began the transformation of the menu in the Terrace Cafeteria. The menu in the cafeteria now includes made from scratch breakfast items and fresh vegetables at lunch and dinner.

During the coming months, SAMC will be announcing additional partnerships with new food vendors, like Chick-fil-A.
